Spero Analytics created a self-healing, self-powered, wireless mesh network of sensory nodes that measure soil moisture, air temperature and humidity.

Their Impact
Using this data, farmers better understand irrigation scheduling, water conservation, optimal seeding and harvesting times, pest management and soil moisture content, resulting in better management to help optimize crop yield.

Lyofresh’s mission is to develop a new food preservation technology that addresses barriers to the freeze-drying process and help food maintain nutrients for up to 20 years.

Their Impact
To increase food security and avoid food waste while creating shelf stable, nutritious, preservative free, and sustainable products.

NutriPulse
NutriPulse is a business initiative created to combat food and nutrition insecurity among children in Peri-urban and rural communities of Ghana.

Their Impact
In Ghana, many low-income earners are not reached by food security programs, and lack the critical nutrients needed for a healthy meal.
NutriPulse processes and supplies affordable, ready-to-cook and nutrient-dense sprouted legumes to community schools through Ghana’s school feeding program, and community market stands.

MustOil has developed mobile technology for local farmers to accurately measure the oil content in their mustard seed.

Their Impact
In Rajasthan, India the value of mustard seed crops is dependent on oil content. Yet farmers lack the tools to know the quality of their crops before taking them to market. The MustOil app requires minimal external equipment to help farmers better know the value of what they grow.

Lumbrick
Lumbrick developed solar-powered machines which turn agricultural waste into briquettes, delivering a safer and cheaper form of cooking fuel for communities across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Their Impact
Lumbrick’s green charcoal is cheaper to generate than traditional fuels and burns smoke-free. This results in a safer, more efficient alternative for 3 billion people around the world who struggle with the limitations of traditional cooking fuels like wood and charcoal, which can cause illness and death.

EmPowerEQ is working to enable individuals living in energy poor regions to transform the motion of water barrels into electrical power.

Their Impact
Energy poverty is a major issue affecting the world. EmPowerEQ strives to create innovations to mitigate the state of energy poverty by reducing the time spent on water collection and focusing time and energy on other tasks such as education and economic development.
