About World Vision
World Vision Canada is an international relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice in nearly 100 countries.
About The Challenge
The Social Innovation Challenge was created to tap into existing talent and ideas being generated by innovators across Canada. For the earlier challenges, World Vision Canada worked with various county offices to determine Challenge themes, which were then solely issued to Canadians.
In 2018 the Social Innovation Challenge was relaunched as a global collaborative innovation platform that allows different challenges to launch in parallel in different countries. Moving forward, the World Vision Social Innovation Challenge will continue to partner with other World Vision Global Offices to expand the challenge and grow our innovation platform.
What makes this Challenge unique?
Leveraging World Vision’s entrenchment in 100 countries around the world, The Social Innovation Challenge contains elements that aren’t seen in any other similar programs.
- Using real people in real locations with real stories, we collect challenge statements from the field.
- World Vision commits to the winners for a full year, providing them with invaluable access to the community.
- Our field staff are trained to be able to elicit information that best highlights the problem to the participants.
